A Song to Call Ours by Merrillee Whren (Front Porch Promises Book 4)

Amanda Reynolds is from the city looking to make it big as a singer. Mitch Cunningham is from the country, a small town, who doesn’t plan on leaving. What happens when they meet and sparks start to fly? When she’s given the break she’s been searching for she’ll have to decide whether to leave behind everything she’s found that she didn’t know she was searching for, or stay and never know if she could make it as a performer for a future with Mitch.

Amanda is from Boston and on her way to Nashville to make it big when her car breaks down in small-town Pineydale TN. Mitch comes to her rescue. The usual big city/small town jokes that are expected aren’t presented in the usual light, for a nice change. Amanda’s used to others making decisions for her, but when she makes her own choices, how can she be sure they will be the right ones? Mitch or a career in Nashville-which will she choose? Merrillee Whren’s characters come to life in A Song to Call Ours. Their dilemma, dialogue, and decisions drew me into the story. Sometimes as we follow our dreams, God gives us little surprises along the way and our accomplished dreams turn into more than we could ever ask or imagine.

I received a free copy in the hope that I would mention/review it on my blog. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I've done. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own and I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

A Family to Call Ours by Merrillee Whren

I loved this story by Merrillee Whren. This is Book 3 of the Front Porch Promises series, but you can read this one without having read the others. Tara Madsen is a widow with a young daughter Hailey who is fighting cancer. Caleb Fitzpatrick comes back to town to find his parents have hired Tara as their receptionist. Is she really who she seems, or does she have ulterior motives? Have his parents trusted the wrong person again? Caleb is still reeling from the actions of his ex, the last person his parents tried to help. Is Tara just like her or can she be trusted?

Tara had fallen in love at a young age, but since he’d died and left her with debt, she couldn’t trust another man to fall in love with. Plus she has a daughter to watch out for now, better than her parents had cared for her. They’d left her at her grandparents and she hadn’t seen them since. She wouldn’t do the same to her daughter.

Can Caleb and Tara learn to lean on God and not worry? In the midst of someone accusing Tara of not being a good mother and Tara’s mother coming back to see her, can Tara trust Caleb? Can Caleb trust Tara not to leave with his heart? What must he do to convince her of his love for her and her daughter?

I recommend this story to anyone who loves a great inspirational romance. I enjoyed the characters and their stories. It’s hard to trust God when things aren’t going well. But as Tara and Caleb find out, trusting Him in the hard times brings peace in the midst of trouble.
