Before Amen By: Max Lucado

Before Amen is a book about learning to pray. We don’t have time to pray, we don’t know what to say, we don’t know how to say it, and we wonder if God really listens when we pray. While reading this book, it was like Max Lucado was in my living room talking to me as I read. What a book!

I like to turn pages down, or highlight something to read again later. I would have highlighted the whole book. How do we address God when we pray? Father. That’s all we need. There are no secret words, no code words, just words from the heart. And you don’t even need to speak. God hears you. We all pray some, but to pray more, better, fire, faith, and fervency? Check out this book! Lucado does a great job breaking it all down and explaining how simple it really is. Believe God is who He is, trust Him with what you can’t handle, believe in His word, and watch God move.

Does your world change when you pray? Do your circumstances, regrets, past, change because you pray? No, but you are surrounded by peace when you turn it over to God. He can handle it. Just talk to Him. He is in control and will keep you safe.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs and don’t forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 4:6-7 TLB)

This verse says it all. God’s peace. For you. Talk to God today and feel Him near. I love this book for the simple yet straightforward way to prayer.

I received this book free from Litfuse Publicity in exchange for an honest review.

Fearless by Max Lucado

Fearless

Max Lucado

This book is about the different fears we face and how to overcome them. A quote from the book: “Fear may fill our world, but it doesn’t have to fill our hearts.” That is the scope of this book. Fearless shows you exactly how to become fearless. It gives you 8 worry-stoppers and tells you God never sends you out alone. The best quote from the book is, “These little troubles are getting us ready for an eternal glory that will make all our troubles seem like nothing”. No matter what you are worried about or are afraid of, read this book and see how to overcome. You can live a life without fear.
Fearless is a very inspiring book. While reading it, you see where you could change to make yourself feel better about your situation. The eight worry-stoppers are a great example: pray first, easy now, act on it, compile a worry list, evaluate your worry categories, focus on today, unleash a worry army, and the best one, let God be enough. “Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need”. I recommend this book to anyone who is worried or afraid about anything. God doesn’t want us to live that way, and this book is a great help in how to overcome.
