Marisol by Elva Cobb Martin Charleston Brides Book 1

An event beyond Marisol's control sets her on a different course. She must hide who she really is. If anyone finds out what she's done, her life will be over. Captain Ethan buys her as an indentured servant, to be a governess to his son. When he gets another lead as to where his sister might be, Marisol is the only person who can help him find her.

I love this story by Elva Cobb Martin. After Marisol has to kill a man to protect her honor, finds herself with child, and is bought and paid for, Marisol does not see how God could be in control of her life. The characters have doubts and fears about God that I could relate to. Marisol doesn't have the assurance that God will protect her due to the things she experienced. Her past keeps her from trusting God's truths. Where was God when life came against her? Ethan doubts God cares about him as he allowed his wife to die. He had prayed for her and she had died anyway.

Marisol is full of adventure and romance. Will Ethan and Marisol learn to trust God and open their hearts to love? If you enjoy Christian fiction with romance and adventure, you will love this story.

Wisdom From a Father: One Dad's Thoughts on Life by Joe Siccardi

Wisdom From a Father is a great collection of entries taken from Joe Siccardi's blog with the same title. There are 52 entries, one for each week of the year, if you decide to read it that way. You can read as much or as little as you choose, but each entry will give you a little inspiration, a little hope, a little insight into the life of Joe Siccardi. But in each one you'll also find a nugget of truth, a similarity to something in your own life. I had several favorites throughout the book, but some of the ones that stayed with me were: Mad Max, Every Day a Friday, and Pepperoni Dreams had two pages turned down. This one's thought to remember states: "We have what we need to be happy. We just don't have the right perspective."

Anyone can get something from this book as there are different subjects and content. Need a little inspiration, read Dion Shares His Truth. Need a laugh, read Mad Max.

I look forward to reading other books by this author!

Ruth's Garden by Christina Lorenzen Faithful Women:Legacies of Grace collection

Ruth's Garden is part of the Faithful Women: Legacies of Grace collection. Christina Lorenzen has written a modern-day story of Ruth. Hope, healing, and a little girl make this a great story! Ruth Baker leaves her home, the only home her six-year-old daughter has ever known, to move in with her grandmother to help take care of her. Her grandmother has sold her home to Eli Hamill.

Eli Hamill buys properties and sells them. He has no home, no family, no roots. Until a little girl wants to take care of his garden. Will the love of a little girl bring two lonely hearts together?

Christina Lorenzen weaves love, bravery, and a renewed faith into Ruth's Garden. This story is great for anyone who needs encouragement and loves Christian romance.

Mary's Mission Trip to Jinja, Uganda

My daughter Mary is getting ready to embark on a mission trip to Jinja, Uganda on February 2, 2019. I am so incredibly proud of her for following her heart's desire to serve where God leads her. Below, Mary will share her heart and desire for her trip to Uganda with Mission Link International. She is traveling with a great group of people we have started calling family. They have taken her under their wings.

I want to ask if you would partner with her in her journey, prayerfully, financially, giving her words of encouragement, whatever God may place upon your heart.

Pastor Todd, one of the Uteam's evangelists, made this video. It captures Mission Link International's heart, the Great Commission in action!

And here's another one:

Here is Mary:

Never did I dream that I would be going on a mission trip. I remember hearing of other people going and thinking how amazing that experience would be. But never thought that would be an opportunity for me. Nor did I have a heart for that ministry.
About 2 1/2 years ago I began having a desire to pursue missionary work and sharing my (God’s) heart and love with others. I began to pray into that to see what the Lord would have for me and always heard the word “wait”. As time went on, more and more people began talking to me about being a missionary. The things said were something I would call a “God thing”. God confirmation in what He was calling me in to. As I continued to pray for months and months, I still heard “wait”. Almost 6 months ago I finally heard the Lord say “Africa”. But accompanying the word Africa was again the word I hear so often, “wait”. My very impatient heart wanted so badly to began researching and finding a group to travel to Africa with. As I waited and waited and kind of lost sight of going, my pastor out of the blue asked me if I would like to go to Africa on a mission trip. I said yes before even really thinking about it.
Now after lots of thought, this trip is something I would have never done without God telling me go. I have never traveled, been on a plane, experienced anything really outside of my little town of Newport. Not to mention, I knew none of the people in the group also going. I am a creature of habit and enjoy staying in my comfort zone. I believe Psalms 37:4 more and more every day,
“Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.”
Psalms 37:4 NKJV
Today I read this as, the Lord gave me this desire. He can give us desires to do things that without Him we would never pursue.

On February 2nd I will be leaving for a 13 day trip to Jinja, Uganda with a group of people that I have come to love. God has placed me with a family that has a heart for the people of Jinja and a desire to bless them with the love of the Lord.

I know Mary would love your prayers.

Before Jesus ascended to the Father, He left his disciples with the words of the Great Commission, charging them to continue in the work he had begun. As His ambassadors, they lived to carry out the vision Jesus had cast for the church:
“You are my witnesses to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8 ) and “GO and make disciples of all nations.”(Matthew 28:19)
The command for the church was, and is, simple: continue the work Jesus started by telling the world the good news of the kingdom.

Will you prayerfully consider walking alongside her on this mission? If you would like to contribute financially, you can do so through paypal at: tscmshupe@pemtel.net, please include your name and address in the notes. If you're local we can make other arrangements. Trip cost is $2950. Prayers are especially requested between 2/2/19-2-15/19, the dates of the trip. Will you agree with me to pray for Mary and the team starting now?

The mission itinerary is filled with crusades and pastor's conferences where they will be doing children's ministry, prison and hospital visits, working with street kids, and loving on the precious widows too! They will spend time at the Deaf School again and there will be a Home Dedication for Esther, a widow.

They covet your PRAYERS and your SENDing support!

Thank you so very much!
