Pleasant Hearts Christian Suspense Series by Joy Ohagwu

This is a great series by Joy Ohagwu! If you love suspense and romance you will love these stories!

Uncommon Ground:
Another great story by Joy Ohagwu! Stella Heart sees firsthand how God can move even when you're going through something and you don't know why or see no way out. God is already there.

Michael Huddleston doesn't understand God's ways, but knows He sees and watches out for us in spite of ourselves.

Putting God first, they see God move in unexpected ways. Uncommon Ground is a suspenseful Christian romance that will keep your finger on the edge of the page, turning to see what happens next.

Unbound Hope

Unbound Hope is the second in the Pleasant Hearts Christian suspense series. The characters draw you into the story. The suspense keeps you turning the pages. Erica Heart, flight attendant, is fighting her past, literally. When Erica’s past becomes her present, she can trust no one but God. Can Jim earn her trust and love?

Jim Denison, a US Marshall, has set his sights on Erica, but she is holding him at arm’s length. Can he win her heart? He feels God is moving in a different direction, but will it line up with what is happening in Erica’s life?

Unveiled Truth:

April’s past love comes to Kano. She’s the interim director; he’s the new director. He left her at the altar 7 years ago. Can they put the past behind them to find the future God has for them?

To follow the characters’ stories, it is better to read the stories in order, but you can follow the stories in any order. These stories are suspenseful, about God’s love and faithfulness, and how to follow what God has planned for our lives, even when we can’t see where He’s leading.

Heaven Shining Through by Joe Siccardi

Heaven Shining Through is a short novella that follows Samantha through her teen years with her friends, to getting married, to taking care of her mom. With humor, truth, and faith, Joe Siccardi's story shows God is present even in the ordinary parts of our lives.

Samantha is a controlled woman who knows what she wants. Until Chad. They meet, fall in love, and then get engaged and married in the same weekend. As Samantha progresses through her life she learns more and more about her parents' past, their love for her, and her love for Chad. Prepare to go on a journey.

A sentence from the book that stuck with me is: 'That's why we wear aprons when we cook.' Samantha's mom states this as she is helping her cook. It just made me think we can make mistakes, things may not go the way we thought they would, but it's okay. Heaven shines through giving us another start.

The Reluctant Warrior by Mary Connealy

Mary Connealy's books start with a bang and don't let up. This one starts with the characters from book one in the High Sierra Sweethearts series snowed in and their bunkhouse full of smoke. Cam can't get the others to wake up. He can't get the door open. Once they get outside, they realize the other cabin is snowed in and full of smoke as well. Trace, from the first book, knows who is behind this. Can they stop him before he kills them?

Cam wants to take his daughter but he will wait until the cabins are rebuilt. Gwen has been taking care of his daughter and his nephew since the wagon train was ambushed. They look up to her like a mother. Gwen opens her heart and helps the children get to know Cam. Can Cam take them away from her when he leaves? Or will Cam and Gwen find the love they have been searching for and make a home for the children?

This story is filled with hope, love, humor, and faith and will engage your heart as you turn the pages. If you enjoy inspirational western romances, you'll love The Reluctant Warrior.

The Reckoning at Gossamer Pond by Jaime Jo Wright

Another great story by Jaime Jo Wright! She weaves past and present together effortlessly to solve a mystery brought to light by a death. The Reckoning at Gossamer Pond is the story of the past colliding with the future. From the past, someone is sending obituary notices to the local paper and Libby finds them. That person is then found dead. Can Libby figure out what is going on before it's her turn?

When Eugene Hayes dies, Annalise finds that he has been researching her past and the town's past. What do the murders from the past have to do with her?

I enjoyed reading about this town's past and the people in it as Annalise researched the connections and found out more about the past. If you love a historical mystery/suspense, you will love this story! I enjoyed getting to know the characters from the past and the present. Gossamer Pond sounds like a place I'd love to visit. Can't wait to read more by this author!

Fit for Joy: The Healing Power of Being You by Valeria Teles

Healing through courage and forgiveness

Fit for Joy: The Healing Power of Being You is Teles’ own personal story of her journey as a fitness competitor. By overcoming her past, she has discovered a way to train her body and soul for a joyful life. Fit for Joy is an engaging, inspiring story to help you overcome obstacles and find joy in your life.

Fit for Joy made me stop and think about forgiveness and how by forgiving, or not forgiving, it can affect me mentally, spiritually, even physically. When I finished reading the book, I felt a peace that I could control how I let things affect me. Instead of reacting to what others around me do or don't do, I can choose ahead of time to be at peace and happy. This book helps the reader put things into perspective. When things are in perspective, you don't feel so overwhelmed. I would recommend this book to anyone who is feeling stressed, has a difficult past, or who wants to see how to get the joy back in living.

The Putting Green Whisperer by Zoe McCarthy

Zoe has done it again! The Putting Green Whisperer is a fun, emotional, faith-building story that will grab your attention from page one and not let go. From the first I could feel Allie’s discouragement, insecurity, hopelessness. But as the story progressed, faith, hope, and love shone through.

Shoo, I loved the story behind how he got his nickname. The story may be about golf, but the relationships between him and his friends, Allie, and Jesus, makes this story shine. And even if you don’t know anything about golf, this story is a keeper. His strong steadfastness trusting in God’s will for his life encouraged me.

Allie, I connected so much with her. From hopelessness, to a new job, to facing her past, I could feel what she was going through. The author did a great job portraying her hesitancy in trusting God.

The Putting Green Whisperer is a very satisfying read!

Finding Amor by Allison K Garcia

Loved this story! Allison Garcia has a way of bringing immigrant issues to light and explaining them to where they can be understood with descriptions that let readers see what is happening. As the head of the Cultural Awareness Committee at her agency, a member of the Statewide Cultural and Linguistic Competency Committee, and participating in several Dream Act rallies and other events in her region, Allison has first-hand knowledge of the issues facing immigrants in today's day and time. Her stories epitomizes her love for the Latino people.

Another lady volunteers with an after school program Emanuel is a part of. They will come to know family and love and home really mean

The descriptions of the experiences the immigrants face and the translations provided make Finding Amor an authentic read. Check out this great book!

Justice Betrayed by Patricia Bradley

Another great story by Patricia Bradley! Justice Betrayed-someone has gotten away with murder. But not for long, if Rachel Sloan has anything to do with it. She gets transferred to homicide, working for Boone Callahan. At least while she's working for him, she doesn't have to figure out how she feels about him.

From the first page, this story takes off. Rachel walks you through how she solves the case, from questioning witnesses, to talking over scenarios with Boone, to getting kidnapped. This story has action, adventure, suspense and romance.

Rachel discovers as she's investigating that this murder is tied into earlier murders, and even her mother's murder. As she works through her past and her relationship with her father, and even her relationship with Boon and God, Rachel discovers forgiveness and love.

Justice Betrayed is for anyone who enjoys a good murder mystery with heart. I love the cover for this book. I cared for the characters and tried solving the mystery as the story went along. The theme of love and forgiveness was woven throughout the story. Can't wait to read more books by Patricia Bradley.

Dead Drift by Dani Pettrey

I love this series! This one was the best yet. Action, adventure, and suspense, all in one inspirational story.

Luke left to join an elite group to take down a terrorist. Seven years later he's back. He's never forgotten the girl he left behind. Has she forgiven him for leaving? Is she still waiting?

Kate doesn't know what to think when Luke walks back into her life. She is a private investigator now. Can she trust him not to leave her again?

Luke and Kate's story will pull you in from the first page. Luke joins his old group of friends to counter the attack against the US. Will they be in time? From investigating a serial killer to the threat of anthrax, the action never stops.

I would recommend Dead Drift for anyone who enjoys inspirational fiction with lots of action and suspense. The cover goes along with the storyline, as you'll see. I enjoyed the inspirational element in this story as well. No matter how far you've gone, God is always waiting for you.

Jerusalem Rising by Barbara Britton

If you enjoy Biblical fiction, you must read Barbara Britton's books. Jerusalem Rising puts you right in Jerusalem with Adah and her family helping to rebuild the walls of the City of David.

Adah's trust in God has dwindled. But when she overhears Nehemiah weeping, she rallies her family to do their part. As a woman, she is made fun of. But she is determined to get her father's name written in the book for helping rebuild the wall.

I enjoy Barbara Britton's Biblical fiction books for bringing the stories of the Bible to life. Jerusalem Rising has romance, action and adventure. Be taken back in time and get a deeper understanding of the life of times gone by.

Another great story by Tina Radcliffe! If you love inspirational romance on a ranch, you'll love this series.

AJ has innovative ideas to help foreman Travis Maxwell win the grant money. But her ideas put the ranch at risk. Will she have to look for another job?

Travis is against hiring her from the start, but when he realizes she can get the work done, can he convince her to stay?

I enjoyed the love story between AJ and Travis. I could see his surprise when he realized AJ was a woman. It was fun to see her able to run the ranch and do the things she did. Loved her horse Gus. Falling for the Cowgirl is a great inspirational romance you won't want to miss.

The Magnet by Mary Ashby McDonald, DVM A Large-Animal Veterinarian's Journey

The Magnet is such a great book! I started reading it thinking it would be about the day-to-day life of a large-animal vet. This book is so much more than that. It's about life, love, loss, heartache, and finding faith in God.

Mary Ashby McDonald had a rough childhood, went to Virginia Tech to be a veterinarian after she was married and had kids, and discovered God loves her. You will laugh, cry, and sympathize with McDonald. She tells her story in a no-holds-barred kind of way. Her storytelling will draw you in; her words will keep you turning the pages. And at the end of the book, you'll find hope.

McDonald's stories showcase her love for animals. From her growing up years, to her missions trips, to her job as a veterinarian, animals have always been a big part of her life.

My favorite parts of the book are where she talked of her missionary vet trips, the Magnet chapter, for which the book it titled, and the overall message of the book. As stated on the back cover, "McDonald points the reader to a "Magnet" who collects the deadly remainders from our pasts, leading to the healing of our own hearts."

The Magnet is McDonald's touching journey and a must read for anyone who loves animal stories, struggles with childhood sexual abuse, or needs to know there's still hope.

If you enjoy inspirational romantic suspense, you will love this book. From a stalker to someone targeting her, oncology nurse practitioner Leigh Weston has to trust Ryan Parker to keep her safe. But when her attacker finds her at work in the emergency room, where can she go to be safe? Who wants her dead?

From the first page, you won't be able to put this one down. Leigh knows God is in control, but Ryan is finding it hard to leave it up to Him. Ryan is investigating a John Doe's body that had been found in the lake. Then Leigh is attacked. Who is behind these attacks and why do they want her dead?

I enjoyed watching Ryan grow in his faith and Leigh being strong in hers. For a suspenseful inspirational romance, Beneath the Surface is a must read.

Lone Witness by Rachel Dylan (Atlanta Justice Book 2)

If you enjoy legal romantic suspense, you'll love Lone Witness. Sophie Dawson is a prosecutor of white crimes and is working on a case against a local bank employee. As the title suggests, she is also the sole witness to a double homicide. As Sophie digs deeper into the bank case, and the double homicide case gets closer to trial, she must put her trust in Cooper to keep her safe and determine who is targeting her.

Cooper Knight must keep Sophie safe and alive to testify when the double homicide case comes to trial. As Sophie is attacked and shot at, he decides to bring her under protective custody.

Lone Witness is book two in Rachel Dylan's series, but you don't need to read them in order. The action keeps you on the edge of your seat as the courtroom drama keeps you turning the pages. The court scenes and procedures are realistic as Dylan is a practicing attorney.

The Accidental Guardian by Mary Connealy (High Sierra Sweethearts Book 1)

Another great story by Mary Connealy. Deborah Harkness is on a wagon train when it is attacked. She, her sister, and two little ones are the only survivors. But when the attackers realize she can identify them will she ever feel safe again?

Trace Riley comes across the massacre and takes in Deborah and the other survivors. Trace will have to keep Deb safe as they track the attackers. Will they find love along the way? Or will Deborah leave as she's planned all along, taking his heart with her?

My favorite scene in this story was of the salvaged Bible. Connealy does a great job with her characters. I could feel Trace's aloneness. The setting descriptions made me feel like I was right there in the story. And the connection between Deb and Trace kept me turning the pages to see how their story would end.

If you love inspirational western romances with a touch of humor, you will love Mary Connealy's books. The Accidental Guardian is no exception. And it's the start of a series, so there are more stories to come!

Whisper by Joy Ohagwu, The Pete Zendel Christian Romantic Suspense Series

If you enjoy clean Christian suspense then this book is for you!

Whisper is the full-length prequel to The New Rulebook series and tells about Pete Zendel's beginnings. I have been waiting for this story to find out who Pete was and why he was the way he was. Whisper is full of suspense, shoot-outs, a fire, a car crash. The action will keep you turning the pages, and the clear road to salvation will touch your heart. Joy draws you into the characters and the story. God's love, forgiveness, and grace are weaved throughout and the character's faith encouraged me.

I have enjoyed Joy's other books and this one is the best yet. I enjoyed the real life struggles to walk in faith the characters faced showing by example how it's done. Can't wait to read more books in this series.

Mail-Order Christmas Baby by Sherri Shackelford (Montana Courtships #1)

Absolutely love this story by Sherri Shackelford. Sterling Blackwell receives a package, only it's nothing he's ordered. Who would send a baby through the mail? In an envelope with the baby, Sterling and the town's teacher Heather O'Connor are named the baby's parents. As Sterling and Heather take care of baby Gracie and find out who she belongs to, secrets from the past threaten to destroy the future they have planned.

The characters made me feel a part of the town and the story. Who does the baby belong to? Can Heather trust Sterling to take care of her and the baby? When the truth unfolds about Gracie's parentage, will it free Sterling and Heather to become the family they've been pretending to be or tear them apart? For a great inspirational historical romance, you won't want to miss Mail-Order Christmas Baby.

Amanda is from Boston and on her way to Nashville to make it big when her car breaks down in small-town Pineydale TN. Mitch comes to her rescue. The usual big city/small town jokes that are expected aren’t presented in the usual light, for a nice change. Amanda’s used to others making decisions for her, but when she makes her own choices, how can she be sure they will be the right ones? Mitch or a career in Nashville-which will she choose? Merrillee Whren’s characters come to life in A Song to Call Ours. Their dilemma, dialogue, and decisions drew me into the story. Sometimes as we follow our dreams, God gives us little surprises along the way and our accomplished dreams turn into more than we could ever ask or imagine.

Precisely at Midnight by Joyce and Alexandra Swann (Kinsman Book 2)

Precisely at Midnight is the sequel to The Invitation. When you receive an invitation, what do you do? Accept right away? Think about it? This story follows up on what happened after The Invitation was given and is filled with suspense, adventure, and lots of hope.

This story has several characters, many from The Invitation, and also new ones. The event that struck me the most was when Carol went to India. She heard a woman's voice calling to her and decided to go search for her. Through bravery and determination she found the woman. What does the woman do with the invitation she is given? What do the others do who had received an invitation and accepted? I couldn't stop reading until I found out, and now I can't wait for the next book in the series.

What will you do with your invitation? Turn it down, accept it and stay as you are, or accept it and do more?

N Plain Sight by Joyce Swann

N Plain Sight is the third book in this futuristic young adult series. What would happen if all the Christians were detained for their faith? Petra, Rahm, River and the others leave Prayer Mountain and head to the heart of downtown Dallas. No one would expect them to show up there.

Petra goes to work for the New America Homeland Security. Her main job is monitoring the adult trainees, the ones that have been captured. With another girl in the office they orchestrate freeing many prisoners. But what happens when someone figures out who she is and what she's doing? You won't be able to stop reading once you start, and when you get to the end, you'll be asking for the next book in the series.

If you've enjoyed the other two books in the series, enjoy reading Christian suspense and stories that make you think, you will love N Plain Sight. Would you be targeted as a Christian if it became outlawed to be one? If you escaped capture, would you join the ranks to help the ones being tortured in prison or would you just try to blend in and be glad you weren't "one of those"? This series has made me consider how strong my faith is and how serious it is, and ask the question would my faith withstand persecution?
