Unending Devotion By Jody Hedlund

Unending Devotion is a great book by Jody Hedlund. Once I started it, I couldn’t put it down. From the first meeting between Lilly and Connell, attraction is pulling them together. She is searching for her lost sister and she knows what she needs to do to rescue her and nothing will stop her, not even Connell. Can she learn to slow down and do what God wants her to do instead of always having to be in control? Can Connell be the man she needs to him to be to work with her incorporating change in the town before more girls are hurt? Lilly finds out that even when things don’t turn out the way she wanted, she can know that God is still there piecing together everything the way He had planned. Lilly Young knows where God wants to use her, but she must learn to be patient with those who are still discovering where God wants to use them. She is searching logging camps for her sister who has run away. Then she encounters Connell McCormick. Will he help her find her sister and help her fight against the injustices she sees in the logging towns? Can Connell trust God to find out where God wants to use him? Connell wonders if his little bit of help will be enough to accomplish anything. If things have always been this way, why try to change them now? Unending Devotion is about the logging camps and how the towns were impacted. Jody Hedlund does a great job of creating characters that you care about. She expertly depicts the shanty boys, the saloons, and all the moral problems of that era. Lilly, Connell, and Lilly’s sister, Daisy, are believable characters from that bygone time. If you love historical fiction, inspirational stories, and true romantic novels, you will love this book!

Wildflowers from Winter By Katie Ganshert

This is a great book from a debut author. Once you start this book, you won’t be able to put it down! Bethany Quinn is called back home. Her best friend’s husband is in a coma; they haven’t talked for many years. Her grandfather, Dan, has a heart attack. Bethany decides to go back home for one week. Then she finds Evan has been living with her grandfather and running the farm. This book will grab your heart and not let go. Bethany deals with loss, hopelessness, and fighting to find her faith. Her life is pulled out from under her. She loses everything she thought was important. Now God can get her attention and show her what He wants her to do. Grandpa Dan used to say, “Even if we do everything right, things are still going to go wrong.” Bethany must learn how to let go and let God in all aspects of her life. Can she figure out how to do that before she does something that will radically change her life and before she find out what she should do? I can’t wait to read more books by this great debut author. Her characterizations will draw you in and you will feel a deep connection to the characters. You will laugh and cry with Bethany and love the town of Peaks as she does. I look forward to more awesome books by this great author! I was given this book by Waterbrook Press in exchange for a review.

The Fourth Kingdom By: Joyce and Alexandra Swann

Another awesome book! I started this book and couldn’t put it down. Dr Alexander Sinclair is a Christian scientist who clones vegetation to help eliminate world hunger. He alters a plant’s genetic structure to make it adaptable anywhere, and then clones that plant. Dr Karl Helmick is a secular scientist who created Doppelganger, the most successful cloning farm. Even though these two scientists’ beliefs are the exact opposite of each other, they team up to create a cure for cancer. Unfortunately, Dr Sinclair has a feeling things aren’t as they seem. What does Dr Helmick hope to accomplish and what is he really cloning? Enjoy a tour through Doppelganger and see the laboratory where the embryos are waiting to be cloned, the finished product of cloned cattle, and how it all works. The scientific explanations are just enough to thoroughly explain what’s going on without weighing down the story. Dr Sinclair believes Jesus is the savior and is coming back. Dr Helmick believes there will be a secular savior and he is preparing for his arrival. Dr Helmick spent his youth in Nazi Germany. He believes Dr Sinclair will renounce his faith and follow Dr Helmick’s scientific breakthroughs. If you enjoy medical thrillers that involve cloning, a Christian scientist, a secular scientist, with a lot of intrigue, you will love this book! You won’t believe how far reaching this novel is as you turn each page in this must read book.
