Interesting Tidbit

My maternal grandparents owned a Cape Cod inn that’s a lot like the one in the book! I grew up spending my summers there, and I have many fond memories of playing hide-and-seek in the sand dunes with my siblings and cousins, collecting sea glass as I strolled along the shore, and walking out on the nearby jetty with my family.

The real-life inn never had a rat problem like the one in Falling for the Innkeeper, but a few months before I sold the book to my publisher, we had a rat loose in our house! This was a super-smart rat, too, because it eluded all of my husband’s carefully placed traps for weeks, and he had to resort to laying down a line of glue traps to finally catch the pesky rodent!

Suffice it to say that when I was thinking about something that would impress my heroine, Laura, a man who was willing and able to help her rid the inn of rats was the first thing that came to mind!
